Wi-Fi 8 explained: How next-gen Wi-Fi could transform your home

What Wi-Fi 8 actually changes in an ordinary house.

An excerpt. The full piece is live at the link below.

The next big leap forward for Wi-Fi (and your home internet) is here. It’s called Wi-Fi 8, and it’s set to deliver the biggest reliability boost home networking has seen.

Even the best-planned home network still has bottlenecks. Plus on top of that, the number of connected devices in our homes just keeps growing. Does your dishwasher have Wi-Fi now? Maybe you don’t even bother with it because you live in a two-storey home and the router’s on the top floor and can’t reach. Plus there’s six other networks from your neighbours for a signal to fight through.

Technically this is IEEE 802.11bn, but everyone calls it Wi-Fi 8. You’ll also see “Ultra High Reliability”, or UHR, on boxes and products that push Wi-Fi 8. This generation is all about steady, dependable, everyday performance.
